Sydney multi-instrumentalists MEZKO unveil their new track and video "Come & Go". The track is the first arrival from the enigmatic duo since their 2017 debut with the Polychronic EP, and is out now on Inertia Music in Australia and Anti Language Records in the US.

The track's mood is captured and translated by director Ellen Hodgson through its visual treatment, on which the pair are joined by another set of strangely familiar figures, culminating in a simple yet stunning celebration of androgyny. The video for the new single is a tribute to MEZKO's love of the early 70s glam era, where David BowieThe New York DollsPatti SmithIggy Pop and more blurred the divide between gender through their music and aesthetic.

"Come & Go is a song about just getting on with it. It's inspired by the sounds and style of the early 70s - there's no other genre that celebrates sass in the way glam does, and we wanted to feel that attitude in MEZKO." - Kat & Laura

MEZKO are Kat Harley and Laura Bailey. Forged by an insatiable musical connection that is the foundation of MEZKO'S unique sound, the result is a collision of styles that casts one hand backwards at post-punk and krautrock and one hand forward at futurist pop and electronica.

Their melange of groovy beats, harmonic riffs and hypnotic vocals are anchored by taut, melodic bass lines and expansive synths. This explosion of sounds is combined with thoughtful songwriting and technical prowess, resulting in a mesmerizing experience -
a space controlled by them and for them, yet welcoming anyone in its path.

A regular fixture across Australian radio stations for their previous singles 'Steady On,' 'Trust' and 'Everyone', MEZKO have grown a diverse, energetic fan base through memorable live shows alongside King Gizzard & the Lizard WizardEmma LouiseMosquito CoastRunning TouchMiami HorrorWorld Champion and Gold Class. VOWWS drops new album Under the World by Florencia Franceschetti

VOWWS_2018_1.jpg

With the new album Under the World, VOWWS craft a dark pop masterpiece - a cinematic, stylish and menacing statement of intent. Drawing upon influences as diverse as classic western folk, electronica, surf rock, alternative, and film music, the enigmatic duo weave disparate threads of cultural influence together into a tapestry of drama, imagination and surprising warmth.

The album is available on all digital streaming services, and will be available on vinyl on April 20th, via Anti-Language Records in the US and Weyrd Son Records in Europe. The European vinyl will be a special, 2 colored limited edition.

Under the World was largely recorded with friend, mentor and engineer Kevin S. McMahon (Swans, Titus Andronicus) at his New Paltz (NY) studio. While the timeless influence of McMahon and his weatherworn studio in a barn are still present, this time around VOWWS took on a more prominent role in producing and mixing the record. Under the World deliberately eschews any obvious Post-Punk and Industrial tropes, instead allowing space for its stylish hooks, direct vocals and rich textures to shine.

It is the first full length release on the band's own label, Anti-Language Records. You can listen to, share and buy the album here.

Vowws will be in tour throughout the United Stated this spring.

VOWWS shares new single "Esseff" by Florencia Franceschetti

Cover Esseff .jpg

"Esseff" is the second single from the upcoming album Under The World

With shape shifting cowboy guitars and acid rain synths, VOWWS’ new single “Esseff" opens with a shadowy, foreboding intro, before a rapid drum fill instantly transforms it into a boot-stomping dance club banger.

"Esseff is like James Bond spy music updated for the modern world. We wanted to create a sound that felt like you were being chased by something scary, but enticing... like a tornado, or drugs. We embrace menacing intent in our music, but that's not everything - even the bleakest shit has light in it... so we turn up the contrast and make both sides of the coin shine." - Vowws

The single released today, is the second cut from VOWWS' upcoming album Under The World, out in March 2018 on Anti-Language Records.

Spirit In The Room shares new single "KID" by Florencia Franceschetti

Spirit in the Room

With hard snares, slide guitars, fuzzy vocals and even fuzzier bass guitar, "KID" starts off 2018 in style. The track progresses in complexity and noise, while the vocals stay steady and melodic throughout the track. "KID" is a song that fits equally good on a dance floor of a rock club as it does sounding out of a jukebox in a bar.

"Everything starts with the beat and the bass. Then I use the guitar to dress everything up, kinda like a christmas tree, you know? The lyrics, about a bunch of different things, tend to be about cutting a cord, letting yourself go with a relationship that you know might drag you down. I do believe in a higher power, so it touches my music in someways also. I don't know how some people might read that, but it is how it is." - Dennis.

"KID" is out now on all digital platforms via Anti-Language Records

Spotify - iTunes - Soundcloud

Dennis Sanders is the frontman and creative force behind Spirit In The Room. Together with bassist Darren Howard and guitarist Kyle Nadeau, the band puts out a very particular blend of high energy, eclectic rock. Noticeable influences include Nick Cave, Depeche Mode and Black Sabbath, with a good dose of punk ethos thrown in for good measure.

VOWWS presents their new single and video "Forget Your Finery" by Florencia Franceschetti

First single off upcoming album Under the World, due February 2018 on Anti-Language Records

The Dark-Pop duo Vowws return this fall with the first single off their upcoming album Under The World to be released in February on Anti-Language Records. The new track "Forget Your Finery" showcases a marked evolution of the band’s sound - the result being more direct, upbeat and more Pop-tinged, while retaining the signature dark, foreboding edge that is the hallmark of Vowws.

The DIY-focussed duo created a visual component for the track, but insist this is not a music video per se:  "We didn't plan to make a video for this song but we didn't want to just throw up a jpeg.” - Rizz

As is the norm for the band, they went much further than that - the result is a glitchy, hypnotic accompaniment with sexy Pulp Fiction vibes. To further capture the visual essence of the music, the band has continued their collaboration with artist Jesse Draxler on the album and singles artwork. Draxler's previous music work includes Zola Jesus, Chelsea Wolfe and Black Queen, and recent commissions include The New York Times and Alexander McQueen.
